What is our true anatomy?

Specifically, we can look at human anatomy like an onion, with many layers. We have many different bodies, which are vehicles to journey through different regions or planes. The outermost layer of our self is our physical body, made of pure physical matter. The physical body is like a vehicle or covering for our other bodies. It is a vehicle to travel here in this physical plane or world.

The next major body is the astral body, but in between the physical and astral is the etheric body, which is where illnesses often ground themselves. It is a mirror of the physical body, known as the functional body. It is the body of flow, connected to the imagination. This is the seat of prana or chi, the etheric flow.

Then comes the next layer, which is the astral body, where our emotions lie, as well as our passions and desires; it is the astral body that we dream with. Many schools of metaphysics or healing refer to the astral body as the “soul”, because it is where our deeper desires and feelings are. We can travel on the astral plane with the astral body. (However, I do not suggest traveling to the inner realms without the guidance of a living Master who can take you up safely with the protection of the inner sound current… see section on spiritual therapies).

Beyond the astral body is the causal body, or mental body, where the mind is.  It is the realm of ideas and thoughts, and it is connected to the ego structure, the healthy sense of self. The mind can be either full of truth and true thoughts or falsehood and ignorance, which leads to ungrounded and negative emotions.  The causal body is connected to the causal or mental world, also known as the universal mind, where the archetypes lie. The Greek mystics called it the Nous.

How do these therapies work on the bodies:

Neuro-linguistic programming works to re-program and correct wrong thought forms and replace them with healthier thoughts.

Homeopathic medicine also works up to the realm of the causal body, by removing false illusions and delusional states of mind, which then affect the astral, etheric and physical body as well.

Bach flower remedies correct illusions and negative emotions in our astral body by replacing them with positive emotions and virtues.

That is the reason that energy medicine not only heals our inner, emotional self, but can affect our physical body as well: we are all interconnected, and any thought we have then affects our feelings (astral) which then affects our functions (etheric) and finally, trickles down into our physical body.

There are other bodies as well, such as the super-causal body, and finally the higher soul, which one discovers through deep meditation and spiritual practice.

" The decisive question for man is: Is he related to something infinite or not? That is the telling question of his life. Only if we know that the thing which truly matters is the infinite can we avoid fixing our interest upon futilities, and upon all kinds of goals which are not of real importance."

Carl Jung.
